Demanding with menaces — Crimes Act 1961, s 239 — sentencing. The defendant was sentenced to three years and five months' imprisonment on two charges of demanding with menaces. There were a number of aggravating factors including premeditation, the effect on the victim and actual violence. An uplift of three months was given for previous convictions. A discount was given for time spent on electronic bail, and a minimum period of imprisonment was not imposed because of pro-social elements demonstrated by the defendant.
