Claim for work done under promise of testamentary provision — Law Reform (Testamentary Promises) Act 1949, s 2. Two applicants claimed that they had rendered services to the deceased for which they were promised a level of reward, and the deceased had failed to honour the promises made. The Judge determined each claim individually and both were substantiated. An award of $130,000 was ordered for the first applicant and $30,000 for the second applicant. If these amounts could not be paid by the estate or the primary beneficiary of the will, the farm property involved would be sold to facilitate the awards. Judgment Date: 13 January 2017.
