Day-to-day care — contact — alienation —weight to be given to child’s views — Care of Children Act 2004, ss 4, 5 and 6. Child was to remain in the day-to-day care of mother as per his wishes (s 6). The child’s views were “given significant weight because of his age, maturity, the strength and consistency of his views…and the cogency of the reasons he had for not wanting contact”. It would be against the child’s welfare and best interests to force contact upon him; the onus was on the father to rebuild the relationship via long-distance contact. * * * Note: names have been changed to comply with legal requirements.* * *
