R v Harris [2017] NZDC 16859

Demanding with menaces — aggravated robbery — sentencing. In disguise the defendant and his co-accused approached the first victim who was sitting in his car texting. They tried to open the car doors and pointed the pistol at the victim. The victim was able to drive off at speed and call police. On the second occasion the defendant and a co-accused went into a supermarket, pointed a pistol at the occupants and demanded money. They left the shop with $400 in cash. Aggravating features of the offending include a degree of planning, and the impact on the victims. The defendant was sentenced to four years and eight months' imprisonment. Judgment Date: 31 July 2017
