R v Jones NZDC 20377
Published 14 March 2018
Burglary — attempted burglary — injuring with intent to injure — sentencing.
The defendant appeared for sentencing on two sets of charges. Firstly the defendant burgled a rural property and attempted to burgle another. The court noted he would have received a discount for his guilty plea, but for his previous convictions which therefore required an uplift. On another occasion the defendant got into a work place argument and knocked the complainant to the floor and proceeded to kick him to the head with steel capped boots while he was unconscious. The defendant was sentenced to three and a half years' imprisonment.
