Misleading immigration New Zealand — sentencing — R v Khan.
The defendant was sentenced for misleading Immigration New Zealand. The defendant had been sentenced for serious offending in other jurisdiction, which he failed to disclose upon entry into New Zealand. The defendant was given credits for courses that he had undertaken while in custody and to reflect his guilty plea. The defendant was sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment; no post release conditions where imposed so that a deportation order could be carried out on conclusion of the sentence.
