Sexual conduct with a young person under 16 — sentencing — R v Johnson [2010] NZCA 168 — R v Tamatea [2016] NZHC 1412 — Philpot v R [2015] NZCA 212. The defendant was sentenced on representative charges of sexual connection with a young person under 16 to four years and six months' imprisonment. A starting point of five and a half years' imprisonment was determined with reference to case law and discounted by 25 percent to recognise guilty plea and mitigating factors. Aggravating factors included age disparity, victim impact, victim vulnerability, breach of trust and the length of time over which offending occurred.
