Sentencing — aggravated robbery — common assault — supervision with residence — Oranga Tamariki Act 1989, s 283. The young person, RS, appeared for sentencing in relation to one charge of aggravated robbery and one charge of common assault. RS along with a group of others had broken into a flat, held down and assaulted the occupants and taken thousands of dollars worth of property. Up until the sentencing hearing, RS had denied involvement with the offending. A family group conference had recommended supervision with residence for six months followed by a supervision order until RS turned 18. After reviewing the details of the offending, victim impact statements, a social work report and RS's troubled childhood, the Judge decided to follow that recommendation. Judgment Date: 16 January 2019. * * * Note: Names have been changed to comply with legal requirements * * *
