Damages for negligence — whether interest sought should be granted — District Courts Act 1947, s 62B. The claim arose after the defendant crashed her car into two power poles causing power outages in the area. Repair work carried out by the plaintiff amounted to $15,541.31. Judgment was entered against the defendant for the outstanding amount of $14,650.31. The Judge was not satisfied that the interest and collection costs claimed by the plaintiff were within common law principles of damages recoverable for negligence and instead ordered interest in accordance with s 62B from May 2013 until 10 June 2016. Judgment Date: 10 June 2016.
