Declaration — child in need of care and protection — Children, Young Persons, and their Families Act 1989, ss 14(1)(a), 14(1)(b), s14(1)(f). Following a family group conference the Judge made a declaration that the child was in need of care and protection under s14 of the Act. In addition to concern over the mother’s mental health and extensive history with Child, Youth and Family, both parents had criminal histories and another child had been removed from their care in 2012. The Judge found ample reason for the making of the declaration, and adjourned the proceedings for the filing of a plan and report in respect of the child. **Note: names have been changed to comply with legal requirements.
