Parenting order — Care of Children Act 2004. A parenting order was made placing the child in the day-to-day care of the applicant. The Judge deemed this entirely appropriate as the child had been living in the care of the applicant for some time, and the mother and father were serving long prison sentences. The Judge supported the position of the applicant that contact should be with the parents indirectly, through telephone, postal and other indirect contact as could be arranged. The Judge noted that after the parents were released, the question would arise as to whether the child should return to their care. That was a matter to be determined at the time, and at which stage lawyer for the child could be appointed to consider matters including that of safety. **Note: names have been changed to comply with legal requirements.
