Final adoption order — Adoption Act 1955 — whether the Adoption (Intercountry) Act 1997 applied — Convention on Protection of Children and Co-operation in Respect of Intercountry Adoption, Art 2. Final adoption order made as special circumstances existed; specifically the length of time the child had been in the care of the applicant. The Adoption (Intercountry) Act did not apply, as the child was born in New Zealand. The Judge would have lacked jurisdiction in these proceedings had it applied.
