Sentencing — transfer to District Court — Oranga Tamariki Act 1989, ss 283 & 284. The young person, AF, was on a Youth Court order for 24 charges. While on that order AF re-offended and those new charges were dealt with in the District Court. Throughout his youth AF had participated in Family Group Conference plans, had two supervision orders, a community work order, a mentoring order, supervision with activity orders and two supervision with residence orders. In a few months AF would be too old to fall under Youth Court jurisdiction and the Judge found that all of the options for rehabilitating AF in the Youth Court had been exhausted. On all Youth Court charges AF was transferred to the District Court for sentencing. Judgment Date: 20 March 2018. * * * Note: Names have been changed to comply with legal requirements * * *
