Sentencing — supplying methamphetamine — possession of methamphetamine for supply — organised crime — Zhang v R [2019] NZCA 507, [2019] 3 NZLR 648. The defendant was for sentence on charges of supplying methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine for supply. He had been part of a drug ring operating in the Waikato, that was investigated and eventually arrested by a police Organised Crime Squad. The defendant's role in the drug ring was supplying methamphetamine for others to sell. The Court assessed the offending as falling into band 4 of R v Zhang, and set a start point for sentence of 11 years nine months' imprisonment.
