Application for extension of compulsory treatment — alcohol use disorder — addiction — brain injury — rehabilitation — Substance Addiction (Compulsory Assessment and Treatment) Act 2017, ss 7, 46 & 47. The applicant sought to extend a compulsory treatment order. The subject person was receiving treatment at the Nova Star facility for her alcohol use disorder. The subject person believed she had recovered and was now able to control her alcohol consumption. Her medical providers disagreed. Based on the subject person's extensive history requiring treatment and lack of insight into her addiction and needs, the Judge granted the order.
