Sentencing — failing to file election expenses — failing to declare candidate donations — Electoral Act 1993 — Electoral Finance Act 2007 — Ravelich v Police High Court, Auckland, CRI 2010-485-00037, 29 June 2010 — Sharma v Police [2019] NZDC 3075. The defendant appeared for sentence on charges of failing to file election expenses and failing to declare candidate donations. The Court observed that this type of offending is rare and there was little relevant caselaw; also, that the offending was the result of an oversight rather than deliberate dishonesty. The final sentence was a fine of $300 plus court costs of $130. Judgment Date: 31 May 2021
