The defendant appeared for sentence on charges of sexual violation by rape, sexual violation by unlawful sexual connection, indecency with a girl under 12, indecent act on a girl under 12, indecency with insult to offend, making objectionable publications, and possession of objectionable publications. There were 17 charges in total, against a single victim. The offending took place over a five-year period, when the victim was aged between four and nine and would go to the defendant's house to be babysat, where the offending would occur. The aggravating features were grooming, breach of trust, vulnerable victim, major impact and the scale of the offending (including numerous and regular sexual acts, use of objects, and filming the offending). The start point for sentence was 16 years' imprisonment, which was uplifted by one year for creating indecent publications. There were reductions for belated guilty plea and a measure of prior good character. The final sentence was 14 and a half years' imprisonment. Judgment Date: 13 September 2024.
