Sentencing — supplying Class A controlled drug — cocaine — selling cocaine — offering to supply — possession for supply. The defendant appeared for sentence after pleading guilty to one charge each of supplying a Class A controlled drug (cocaine), offering to supply cocaine, selling cocaine and possession of cocaine for the purposes of supply. He had met an undercover police officer and exchanged a kilogram of cocaine for $195,000. He offered to sell more the next day and when the house he was staying was searched more cocaine was found. A starting sentence of 12 years' imprisonment was adopted. This was reduced by 10 per cent for the defendant's previous good character and lack of any prior convictions, as well as by 20 per cent for his early guilty plea. This brought the end sentence down to 8 years and six months' imprisonment. Judgment Date: 7 May 2019.
