Sentencing — aggravated robbery — burglary — assault with intent to rob — robbery — Churchward v R [2011] NZCA 531, (2011) 25 CRNZ 446. The defendant appeared for sentencing on charges of aggravated robbery, burglary, assault with intent to rob and robbery. He and another person had repeatedly targetted a residential address, threatening the occupant with weapons and stealing property. In a separate incident, the defendant had approached a person in public and took several of his items after threatening him. The offending was aggravated by planning and premeditation, use of weapons and violence. The start point was six years nine months, and after discounts for youth and guilty plea, the final sentence was five years' imprisonment. Judgment Date: 13 January 2020.
