Sentencing — fishing in a marine reserve — obstructing a fisheries officer in the execution of his duties. The defendant had pleaded guilty to one charge of fishing in a marine reserve and one of obstructing a fisheries officer in the execution of his duties. The officer had approached the defendant to tell him that he would seize the defendant's rods and the fish he had caught. The defendant responded aggressively and threatened the officer, which was the basis of the obstruction charge. The Court set a fine of $1000 for taking marine life, with a $500 uplift for the obstruction. The Court applied discounts for the defendant's guilty plea and personal circumstances. The final amount of the fine was $750. Judgment Date: 28 September 2018.
