R v Hamuera [2018] NZDC 264

The defendant appeared on domestic violence charges relating to assaults on his partner, and one charge of aggravated robbery. In respect of the domestic violence charges, aggravating factors were the breach of trust, the fact that the offending occurred in a domestic setting, that there was an assault to the head and the repeated nature of the assault. Discounts were given to reflect the defendant's youth, remorse, and guilty pleas. The defendant was sentenced to a term of imprisonment of three years and two months on the aggravated robbery charge, with concurrent sentences of two months' imprisonment in respect of the domestic violence charges.
