Suspension of parents’ guardianship rights — exceptional circumstances — appointment of sole guardian — home for life placement — Children, Young Persons, and Their Families Act 1989, ss 110 and 114. The children’s long-term caregivers were appointed sole guardians under s 110(2)(a). The natural parents’ guardianship rights were suspended under s 114. The Judge considered the circumstances of the case were exceptional enough for the powers of that provision to be exercised.
