Whether appellant could practice as a psychiatrist in New Zealand — Health Practitioners Competence Act 2003, ss 15 and 106. An appeal by way of rehearing was held to determine whether the respondent Medical Council had made the correct decision in determining that the appellant could not practice as a psychiatrist in New Zealand. The issue in dispute was whether the appellant had the qualifications, training and experience equivalent to, or as satisfactory as, that of a registered New Zealand vocationally trained specialist. The Judge accepted the Council's view that the appellant's training was not equivalent to that required and thus the appeal was dismissed. Judgment Date: 29 August 2016.
