Costs decision — certification — minimum standards for registration — Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Act 2006 — District Court Rules 2014, rr 14.6(3)(b) & 14.6(4)(a) — Angus v Plumbers, Gas Fitters and Drainlayers Board [2017] NZDC 24136 — Angus v Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board [2018] NZHC 2299. The appellant had appealed against a decision of the Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board ("the Board") declining his registration as a certified plumber. The appellant had failed the relevant certifying plumber examination, and had pursued appeals unsuccessfully through the High Court and sought leave to appeal to the Court of Appeal. The leave was declined. Counsel for the respondent filed for increased or indemnity costs in light of the failed appeals. The Court granted indemnity costs payable by the appellant to the respondent Board, to the amount of $16,217.50. Judgment Date: 7 December 2020.
