Serious offending — bail — Bail Act 2000. A bail application was declined for a young person facing a number of charges, including aggravated robbery. Bail had already been declined by the Community Magistrates, but a further application was advanced after the opportunity to see video evidence and a denial entered by the young person in relation to that charge. The Judge declined bail, expressing that more thought was required to be put into what the bail conditions should be. The young person was transient, being often not at home, and the Sergeant’s opinion that there was an ongoing risk to the public was agreed with by the Judge. * * *Note: names have been changed to comply with legal requirements.* * *
