Born and raised in Southland, Judge Malosi graduated from Victoria University of Wellington and spent her legal career in South Auckland. She was a founding partner of the all-Māori and Pasifika women law firm King Alofivae Malosi specialising in family law and youth justice. which received the Auckland District Law Society’s EEO ‘Most Innovative’ award in 2000.
In 2002, she became New Zealand’s first female Pasifika Judge when she was appointed to the Family Court. Throughout her judicial career she has sat primarily in the Family and Youth Courts in South Auckland.
She has sought to implement alternative, culturally appropriate responses to youth offending in her community, working with her Māori Youth Court colleagues on establishing Rangatahi Courts and using this as a model for similar Pasifika Courts.
In 2013 Judge Malosi served as Sāmoa’s first Sāmoan female Supreme Court Judge.
She was then Executive Judge of the Manukau Court before being appointed as National Executive Judge in 2021 and was appointed Principal Youth Court Judge in November 2022.
